GOA Membership & Operations Coordinator

Help strengthen the membership, communications, and recurring operations of New Hampshire’s statewide outdoor industry alliance.

Job Summary

Granite Outdoor Alliance (GOA), New Hampshire’s statewide outdoor-industry association, seeks a highly organized and responsive coordinator to keep membership, communications and recurring operations moving. The coordinator will contract with Backyard Concept, LLC (BYC), GOA’s management provider, and work exclusively on the GOA account during an initial 90-day pilot.

This primarily remote opportunity is ideal for someone who closes loops, communicates professionally, maintains clean systems and can turn a collection of loose ends into a reliable operating cadence. Candidates based in New Hampshire—or with substantial professional or personal connections to the state—are strongly preferred.

The Opportunity

Granite Outdoor Alliance is seeking a highly organized, proactive Membership & Operations Coordinator to help strengthen the systems and day-to-day work behind New Hampshire’s growing outdoor industry network.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping people connected, information organized, and important details from falling through the cracks. You will support member recruitment, onboarding and retention; maintain membership records; assist with communications, newsletters, events and campaigns; and help ensure that commitments turn into completed work.

You will work closely with GOA leadership and its Special Projects Manager while taking ownership of a defined set of recurring responsibilities. The initial engagement is a 90-day pilot of up to eight hours per week, with the opportunity to shape the role and potentially continue beyond the pilot based on performance and organizational needs.

The position is primarily remote, but because GOA’s work is rooted in New Hampshire, we strongly prefer someone who lives in—or has a meaningful connection to—the state. The right person will bring sound judgment, follow-through, clear communication and genuine enthusiasm for supporting the people and organizations advancing New Hampshire’s outdoor economy.

Core responsibilities

The coordinator will provide practical, detail-oriented support across GOA’s membership and recurring operations. Initial priorities will include:

Membership Management

  • Maintain accurate and current member records, contacts, renewal dates and engagement notes.

  • Coordinate member onboarding, including welcome communications, benefit information and follow-up.

  • Track prospective members, renewals and outstanding membership actions.

  • Support member recruitment and retention campaigns.

  • Respond to routine member questions and direct more complex matters to GOA leadership.

Communications and Engagement

  • Assist with member newsletters, announcements, event communications and other recurring outreach.

  • Gather updates, opportunities and relevant information from members and partners.

  • Maintain communication calendars and help ensure materials are prepared, reviewed and distributed on schedule.

  • Support social media coordination and other member-facing campaigns as assigned.

Events and Programs

  • Assist with event registration, attendee communications, calendars, materials and follow-up.

  • Track deadlines and logistical details for GOA programs, meetings and campaigns.

  • Help document participation, outcomes and next steps.

Systems and Reporting

  • Maintain organized membership and project-management systems, including establishing or improving repeatable workflows.

  • Track open items, deadlines and follow-ups so responsibilities do not fall through the cracks.

  • Prepare concise membership, engagement and activity reports for GOA leadership.

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities to make recurring work more consistent.

  • Document processes and create practical templates, checklists and standard operating procedures.

Because this is an initial 90-day pilot of up to eight hours per week, the coordinator will focus first on the highest-priority membership systems and recurring operational needs. Responsibilities may evolve as those systems become established and the coordinator demonstrates capacity for additional ownership.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a dependable, resourceful coordinator who enjoys creating order, communicating with people and making sure commitments become completed work. This person does not need constant direction, but knows when to ask questions, confirm priorities and elevate an issue.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • Excellent organization, follow-through and attention to detail.

  • Clear, professional and responsive written communication.

  • Experience supporting membership organizations, associations, nonprofits, chambers of commerce, professional networks or similarly community-oriented organizations.

  • Comfort maintaining contact records, tracking renewals and managing recurring workflows.

  • The ability to prioritize effectively within a limited weekly schedule.

  • Sound judgment when communicating with members, partners and other stakeholders.

  • Confidence using—or quickly learning—project-management, email-marketing, database and collaboration platforms.

  • The initiative to identify a loose end, determine the appropriate next step and close the loop.

  • A process-oriented mindset, including an interest in improving workflows and documenting repeatable procedures.

  • A genuine interest in New Hampshire’s outdoor industry, recreation economy or nonprofit community.

New Hampshire-based candidates (or those with substantial professional or personal connections to the state) are strongly preferred. Familiarity with the state’s outdoor businesses, nonprofit organizations, communities or public-sector partners is a plus.

Outdoor-industry experience is welcome but not required. Reliability, judgment and the ability to keep work moving matter more than knowing the difference between a carabiner and a derailleur.
